Cirkus pops and with Paddle Pop twister commercial!
Just before Christmas 2015, advertising agency MullenLowe Indonesia approached Cirkus to show off their tricky tricks for Unilever’s brand new global campaign for their ice-cream brand, Paddle Pop.
The work included first and foremost the re-design of the existing CGI characters to suit a 21st century target market. Once all parties across the various markets were happy, we went through the usual process for an animated TVC and also produced the live action shoot for the necessary consumption shots of the Duo Pop and Twister products.
Human Cannonball Romain Borrel led a team of illustrators and 3D modellers to re-design a fresh look for Max, Leena, Higga, Twitch and Spike, and transform them into teenage versions of their former selves to be used on packaging as well as on all animated content.
These new characters are fun and energetic, with distinct personalities. Working with many markets will throw curveballs, and this time we were faced with a slight backtrack where we were asked to tweak Max’s facial features so that he resembled the old design a little more.
The Duo Pops 30” and Twister Forest 30” spots are currently on air in Turkey while the Twister Blackcurrant 30” spot is showing in Germany. This campaign is being rolled out globally over the next year and a half – so keep an eye out for it in your country!
