shocking new TENNIS MATCH ON ALPENLIEBE TERRAIN. Who will win?

Our friends at BBH Shanghai and top confectionary megastar Perfetti Van Melle contacted us once again to organise a tennis tournament for the duo, Alpi the puppet and his new friend, Sparky the Hedgehog. Here’s the twist, instead of classical boring old tennis balls, they have replaced it with various fruits that implode into delectable swirls of lollipop goodness! Witness the epic 3D-animated match unfold, seated snuggly between the the Swiss Alps here:

Exclusive insight on the behind-the-scenes:

As per the usual protocol, this project involves designing and building a new 3D look for both the characters and environments. This brings our faithful 3D model and texture artist (it’s James) to his Maya desk. The team worked on layout of these characters into the mountainous terrain; what follows is rigging (essentially creating manipulatable skeleton) and animating them to life. The cherry on top of the process is the creation of complex fluid and particle animation for the product sequence.For those curious for the final scores – 6-0, 6-0, 6-1(who won? we’ll never tell)
